Sydney, Australia: Australian communications consultancy, Watterson, has appointed Whitney Erickson as Senior Consultant, bolstering its ranks as the company continues to experience significant new demand in Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), plus South-East Asia (SEA).

Erickson is a communications consultant and publicist who joins Watterson from the entertainment, performing arts and live performance space, where she worked on and managed strategic communications and publicity for major productions including Pippin, The Wizard of Oz, Book of Mormon, Pop-Up Globe, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Erickson has also led PR strategies and campaigns for Professor Brian Cox, Penn and Teller, Bill Bryson, Todd McKenney, Courtney Act and Rick Stein, among others.

Commenting on the appointment, Erickson said she is excited to come on board at a time of such expansion within the company.

“The demand for, and appreciation of PR specialists is growing across all industries, so being given the opportunity to work with a company like Watterson, which has an impressive reputation for long-lived, meaningful relationships with both clients and media, is very exciting.”

“Coming from over fifteen years in the world of entertainment, performing arts and live performance, I’ve always enjoyed cutting through the fog with stories and campaigns that entertain, engage and speak to the human experience, and I’m keen to apply that experience to Watterson’s diverse range of clients.”

Erickson’s appointment is the latest in Watterson’s ongoing expansion. Earlier this year, the company promoted long-standing consultant Nermin Bajric to Chief of Staff, and recruited former journalist Laura Bradley as Consultant. Watterson will seek further headcount in early 2022 to meet its growth targets.

Watterson Chief of Staff, Nermin Bajric, said: “Whitney has managed a wide range of large-scale, high-profile clients, and delivered highly-targeted campaigns for niche players. The diversity of her experience, coupled with exceptional ability to create stories for broad-ranging audiences – big and small, mainstream and nuanced – aligns perfectly to our consulting model, and the outcomes our clients have come to expect.”

Watterson’s momentum has accelerated in the past six months, adding several new clients including Apptio, Checkbox, DroneShield, and SimilarWeb. The company today represents organisations in information technology (IT) and telecommunications, cybersecurity, energy and sustainability, education and training, defence industry, and professional services, with remit spanning integrated PR and communications strategies and marketing communications in A/NZ, as well as SEA.
